Glowing Gallery
Institutional | Architecture | Muncie, Indiana | 2011
Design, parametric 3D modeling, 3D rendering, and drafting of a museum addition.
For this addition proposal to the Ball State Museum of Art, the design involves a ramp that departs from 3 points in the surrounding outdoor quad into the museum, and a gallery enclosing such connection.
This gallery is meant to be a celebration of such connection, bringing new experiences as the space is created. The ramp itself is a series of decisions, in which the patrons will take action as they decide the experiences they want. Within the gallery, they also have a decision to take a glass elevator or a glass stair case to the main floor, or to come inside the museum.
Patrons could experience the gallery from the inside out, hence using glass as the main material for the gallery’s envelope, in consideration to visual context of the Museum. This experience is not limited to daytime, as nighttime falls the gallery starts to glow.
Designed in collaboration with Jerry Hodge.
