Design, milling, welding, woodcutting, and assembly of a screen divider.

“Mopontucci” is a portmanteau of three Italian designers: Carlo Molino, Gio Ponti, and Giovanni Michelucci. The project involved the design and construction of a screen as part of a larger collection known as a “stanza” or room, which included a table and a cabinet. Inspired by mid-century Italian design, the screen presented an orthagonal and symmetrical design at first. The legs held the overall frame with the inserted staggered screen. The design later changed to break from symmetry, stretching the legs outward and modifying the staggering in an upward motion helps even the load on the legs.
